The President made these remarks on his Twitter account while addressing the Uganda Martyrs celebration.
Museveni will issue new guidelines to curb the second waveof the covid-19 on Saturday. He said that we need God’s divine intervention in such a time.
“Today, as we remember and celebrate the martyrs for their display of Courage, Boldness, and Unshaken Determination to stand up for their Faith even in the face of Persecution and Death, may we call upon God to intervene for solutions that can change the COVID-19 story,” the President tweeted.
He however added that Ugandans should do something rather than simply waiting for a miracle to happen.
“We, however, should not faint, like those without Hope, but be steadfast at whatever we do. We cannot stand still and lament. Observe Covid 19 Guidelines put in place, be informed. And avoid Social Media Sensationalism about the Corona Pandemic and the Vaccines,” Museveni added.
He concluded by wishing the faithful a happy celebration day.
“Finally, all proceedings leading up to and during the Celebrations are being broadcast on Television for the Faithful to follow from wherever they are. I wish you Happy Celebrations and may God hear our Prayers,” the President concluded.
Christians celebrate 3rd June in Uganda and on the Christian calendar as a day to remember the brave Uganda martyrs. In 1885, Kabaka Mwanga ordered Mukajjanga to kill them . Mwanga accused these of defiance to him in favor of the white man’s religion.
