In Uganda, it is very common for an artist to re-do a song of another artist. No one has ever faced any charges in court, the only thing done is to report the song on YouTube and it’s taken down.
Kato Lubwama’s son said Lil Pazzo re-did the song just to chase clout, nothing more that.
“Ejoogo mulisusizza . All because for pop corn clout you disrespect a dead mans’ work of art. Lunno luyimba lwa Late Hon.Kato Lubwama,” the son posted on X.
Actor John Ssegawa also advised the singer to look for people in charge of the late Kato Lubwama’s work and apologize to them first. He said after the apology, the singer can move ahead and ask for permission to do the song officially.
“Mr. Lunabe Lil Pazzo, look for those responsible and in charge of the Late Paulo Kato Lubwama’s estate and creative works. First apologize then seek permission to use this song before it’s too late bulaaza. Plagiarism is a crime, copyright infringement is a crime. Kwo okumanyiira simanyi,”
Lil Pazzo hasn’t said anything about the song, it is not clear what his intentions of re-doing the song were.
