Lionel Messi Advises Argentina Coach Javier Mascherano On How To Beat France In The Olympic Quarter-Final

The captain of the Argentina football senior team, Lionel Messi has advised former teammate Javier Mascherano on how to beat France. Mascherano is the current coach of the Argentinean team at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

It should be noted that Argentina and France will clash today in the quarter-finals of the Olympics.

This game promises very many things especially owing to the recent on-and-off controversies between the two giant footballing nations. The height of their rivalry reached in the 2022 World Cup final when Argentina played France in Qatar.

They won on penalties to lift their third World Cup. A couple of words and antics were exchanged in the aftermath of the game.

The ‘beef’ reached its peak a few weeks ago following Argentina’s triumph in the Copa America. The Argentinean team was seen singing a chant deemed racist and offensive towards French black players.

Enzo Fernandez who was the height of this scandal was roasted left and right till he issued an apology. However, for the fans and citizens of different nations, the verbal exchanges in different media platforms are still ongoing. Therefore, the game tonight promises to be more than a football match.

Messi who is Argentina’s most capped and decorated player gave his compatriot some tips on how to beat Thierry Henry’s side.

According to the Inter Miami captain, he advised Mascherano to only stick to football and stay focused. He should also respect his opponent and not get sunk in the recent controversy. Besides, he should know that he’s facing a great challenge from France and its fans.

Read his advice below to Mascherano below;

“Today’s match against France is very important. Stay focused on the field, respect the opponent. And do not confuse what happened in the Copa America celebrations. You are facing a difficult challenge in France and in front of its fans. If you want to win, you must not lose focus and play for your country and sacrifice for the medal, tomorrow’s match is the dividing line between you and the medal. We are with you. Good luck,”  he said.
