Hon Lutamaguzi On Why He Will Be Running Under NUP In 2026 Elections

Nakaseke member of parliament Hon Lutamaguzi Ssemakula has revealed reasons why he will be running under the National Unity Platform (NUP) led by Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu in the 2026 general elections. He has been a member of the Democratic Party (DP) for so many years.

When NUP was introduced, he showed his support to them but never crossed to be a full member.

When DP President Norbert Mao joined President Museveni, some DP members started leaving. According to the MP, he has realized that not everyone in opposition wants change.

He said some people are in opposition looking for opportunities that benefit them and their families financially.

So far the Nakaseke MP feels like only NUP is the one that is serious when it comes to change. They are the only people looking at the future without this current government.

“In 2026, I’m running under NUP. Not everyone in the opposition wants change. Some are content with the status quo because they’re benefiting financially. It is only NUP that is consistent when it comes to change and leading Ugandans to the future,”he said.

It should be noted that Lutamaguzi’s current political party DP has so many issues. Norbert Mao refused to resign from the leadership role of the president of the party.

It left members torn apart and most of them might leave in the coming elections if some issues are not resolved.
