Musicians Lydia Jazmine and A Pass have distanced themselves from Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon Thomas Tayebwa’s thanksgiving ceremony. This will apparently take place in Ruhinda North at Rwakitandara playgrounds.
It should be noted that a poster started making rounds on social media this week. It stated that the deputy speaker and the people of his constituency will welcome the President in the area for a thanksgiving ceremony. This is set to take place on the 28th of July 2024.
Apparently, the poster has a number of singers who are slated to perform there. They include the likes of Dr Jose Chameleone, Bebe Cool, Winnie Nwagi, Lydia Jazmine, Ray G, Eddy Kenzo, A Pass, and Ykee Benda.
Where the problem started;
When the poster started arousing anger, especially among the youths towards certain musicians such as A Pass and Ykee Benda. The duo had previously been active in the #March2Parliament protests against corruption. They, therefore, felt betrayed
Whereas Ykee Benda confirmed that he will be attending and performing at the concert, A Pass said that he won’t.
In fact, the Wuyo singer said that he had no idea about this concert and also saw the poster making rounds on social media. He clarified that he doesn’t perform at political events and he’s not about to do so.
Lydia Jazmine also took to social media and distanced herself from this concert. The Masukka singer said that she was listed on the lineup of performers without her consent. She went ahead to apologize to all her fans for the confusion.
“LJ MUSIC would like to clarify that Lydia Jazmine will not be performing at this event. The artist was listed without our consent. We apologize for any confusion and appreciate your understanding”.
