Mabati Ministers To Be Dropped From Cabinet In Reshuffle

There are currently fears that several ministers are going to be dropped from the cabinet by President Museveni in the next reshuffle. And those that face the sack are the ones who have been implicated in the Karamoja iron sheets scandal.

While appearing on a local TV station, the spokesperson of the NRM, Rogers Mulindwa said that they will likely have a cabinet reshuffle before Christmas.

He added that whatever happens in the cabinet definitely gets back to the president. Therefore whoever took the Karamoja iron sheets despite what they used them for will face the axe.

“We shall have a cabinet reshuffle before Christmas because all that is happening in the cabinet gets back to the president. Those that took iron sheets to put on government schools and the ones who took them to build a pigsty are thieves. All those ministers will be dropped,” said Rogers Mulindwa.

It should be noted that the Karamoja iron sheets scandal has rocked the country for the past weeks. A cabinet meeting was even called by Museveni in regard to the matter.

As a result two ministers so far have been arrested. These are Mary Goretti Kitutu the Karamoja Affairs Minister and Amos Lugoloobi, the Minister of State for Finance. Besides, President Museveni has also passed a directive barring anyone involved in the scandal from flying abroad.

It is said that by the time of his arrest, Minister Lugoloobi was fleeing the country. He was intercepted on his way en route to Entebbe.
