Gov’t Threatens To Handle Over Makerere University To The Army

One may ask him/herself whether it’s within the law for the army to run an institution like makerere university.

The gov’t spokesperson Ofwono Opondo claims it’s constitutional to have the soldiers run institutions of government and save them from collapsing.

Opondo demanded for order at Makerere university admist strikes and reports of sexual harassment warning that if the institution doesn’t be in control, it will be put under army’s control.

Ofwono said: “We cannot allow Makerere to fail when we have professors in the army. The government has given Makerere enough time to sort their mess.”

Makerere University student’s are currently striking over a numerous issues like tuition, food among others.
