Makerere University Graduate Found Dead In His Room 3 Days After Graduating

The Police in Kampala have kicked off an investigation into a case under which a Makerere University graduate was found dead in his room. This happened a few days after his graduation.

James Eyangu, 27, graduated on Wednesday in Biomedical Laboratory Technology but his body has been found in his room, dead. He acted as the president of the Makerere College of Veterinary Medicine in the past.

On top of that, many knew him at the University as well as on social media.

His next door neighbor, Akol Carolyne, said that she had last seen the deceased last week on Thursday morning at around 8am. She said she had gone to borrow a plastic stool from him.

She said she later left to go to the university but when she returned, Eyangu’s doors had padlocks on the outside.

‘’She thought the deceased had moved out until Sunday morning the 23/05/2021 that she experienced a bad smell from the deceased’s room. She immediately reported to the custodian of Elite Hostel, a one Ssesanga Marvin who also reported to police.” Kampala Metropolitan Area Police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire explained.

According to Owoyesigyire, the police found the Makerere University Graduate lying on the bed when they forced the door open.

They then took it to Mulago hospital for postmortem as investigations into the death are still continuing.
