Maroons Football Club made a comeback from a goal down to overcome Ndejje University. Maroons won the game 3-1 during matchday 13 of the 2021-2022 FUFA Big League.
The game took place at the Arena of Visions playground on Thursday, February 17, 2022.
As early as in the fourth minute, George Akena struck a powerful header that gave Ndejje University the lead. He powered home past goalkeeper Emmanuel Akol off a distant free-kick from Solomon Akodi.
Norman Odipio equalized for Maroons in the dying minutes of the first half as the halftime mandatory break was all square at 1-goal apiece.
Through Fred Amaku, the Maroons then took the lead in the 48th minute. William Kiibi netted the third goal for the Maroons in the last 5 minutes of normal time.
Maroons is now second on 25 points off 13 matches, two points shy of the leaders Blacks Power.
Lira-based Blacks Power leads the standings with 27 points after a 2-0 home win over visiting Calvary at the Akii Bua Memorial Stadium.
Meanwhile, the 13-time Uganda Premier League champions Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA FC) will entertain newly-promoted Gaddafi FC. This will be one of the three games on the fixtures.
The encounter will be staged at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo in Kampala City, for the first-ever meeting between these two clubs.
