Masaka Lives Matter, Stella Nyanzi Protests Against Killings

Dr. Stella Nyanzi has organized a protest against the killings in Masaka. She has themed the protest, Masaka Lives Matter. Nyanzi says that she was pushed by the increasing number of murder cases in Masaka.

She has said the government is putting in insufficient efforts to save the people who currently live under fear. She is therefore advocating for more Ugandans to join her in this move she started.

“As a woman who hails from Masaka district, I have started organising a peaceful demonstration against the unending murders of unarmed innocent civilians in Uganda. Who will join me?” Nyanzi said.

Human rights activist and scholar, Nyanzi is popular for her aggressiveness when dealing with issues. She simply goes an extra mile when she puts her head to it.

For this, we can’t tell how far she is going to go because all the times she has protested, her destination has been prison.

For over a month now, machete wielding thugs have continued to terrorize residents of Masaka. This has gone on  regardless of the heavy deployment of security in Masaka area.

Adults between the age of 50-80 have been the main victims of these machete-wilding thugs. The cause of this brutality has not yet been attached to anything whether politics or terrorism.

However, the Gen David Muhoozi, the internal Affairs Minister promised to visit Masaka this today.
