Missile Commander Killed In Gaza Air Strike

Recent events had a pre-dawn air strike by Israel on an apartment in the Gaza Strip kill a top Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) commander. It also left one other person dead.

The warplane attacked an apartment on the fifth floor of a building in Hamad residential city. It should be noted that on Wednesday, a number of militants were seen firing over 460 rockets at Israel.

The last nine months of fighting saw their worst when Israel hit over 130 militant targets. The death toll from the fighting this week according to Palestinian medical sources has been estimated at 24. This includes three other PIJ commanders

Many people rushed to make their way to shelters in Israel. This is after being hurt as the rockets were fired from Gaza. The armed wing of the PIJ confirmed this morning that the head of their missile unit, Ali Hassan Ghali had died in the attack.

PIJ is the second biggest militant group in Gaza following Hamas and it swore to avenge the deaths of Palestinians.

As for the Israel military, it also confirmed that it had targeted Ghali and what it called two “other Islamic Jihad operatives in Gaza”. They said Ghali is a vital figure in the PIJ who are responsible for the recent rocket barrages launched against Israel.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned on Wednesday night that his country’s campaign was far from over.

“We have hit Islamic Jihad with the significant blow it has ever suffered,” he said in response to a Tuesday attack that killed three PIJ commanders.

An umbrella organization representing armed factions in Gaza also warned of darker days ahead if Israel increases aggression.

In recent years, many rockets have been launched into Israel leaving a trail of bodies. Furthermore, the PIJ has been responsible for them all.
