Now different fans and other people in the entertainment industry have come out to air their views on this issue. The Swangz Avenue singer who recently gave birth has been under lockdown with no performances just like most Ugandan artists.
Most of the comments showed praise for the “Love panic” singer for giving the fan what he deserved.
“.. And btw, BEFORE ‘her music, and her being a celebrity’ was FIRST a GIRL, Someone’s Daughter, someone’s girlfriend/wife!. Basically ‘the person ‘, a HUMAN BEING who must be respected. Her social status, her music and her being a celebrity came second… And are immaterial”. One fan wrote.
“Women do not need to be polite to someone who is making them uncomfortable. Thank u
@IamVinka”. Celebrated TV host Douglas Lwanga tweeted.
However, Vinka did not just get praise from her followers but also some backlash from her followers too. These were trashing her and her fans’ claims of women empowerment saying she invited this upon herself.
They claimed that it was her indecent dressing that tempted the fan to touch her inappropriately. This included singer Kalifha Aganaga who said Vinka should go back and apologise to the fan.
“Vinka this is bad, how could you do such a thing to the innocent fan, the blame is on you… who told you to dress like that Neda neda ate Temukisusa,” Khalifa Aganaga wrote through a social media post.
This is not the first time Swangz Avenue singers are kicking their fans and smashing their phones.
Hothead Winnie Nwagi was the first to do this to a fan in the UK. She saw him recording her inappropriately and gave him a lesson of his life.
It seems like Benon Mugumbya also teaches his musicians Kung Fu lessons and therefore before you do anything silly around them, think twice.
