More Woes For Golden Band As Mesach Ssemakula Quits Label

There has been more trouble for the band group Golden Production as one of its most revered and celebrated members, singer Mesach Ssemakula quit the group.

According to a statement released by the singer’s lawyers, Lukwago and Advocates, Mesach highlights health complications as the major reason why he quit the group.

“Due to my health complications, I feel like I can no longer ably contribute to the company as a performer and stakeholder. I, therefore, resign from Golden Band Production Limited,” part of the statement read.

Although the Sigwe Onsimira singer highlighted health complications, it’s said that the reasons he quit are beyond that. Infiltration of politics into the group has been highlighted as the major cause.

Apparently, the other group members Catherine Kusasira and Ronald Mayinja are vocal NRM supporters.

Their actions had gone a long way in tainting the image of the band amongst some sections of the public. There were alarms for boycotting the shows of this group plus pelting them with bottles.

All that could have catapulted Mesach to resign from the group. Rumour also has it that the group some time back organized auditions to recruit new singers. This was done by Kusasira and Mayinja without Mesach Ssemakula’s consent.

He is also not the first artist quitting the group which now looks depleted. Starting in the early 2000’s as Eagles Production, the original group split in 2014 with Geoffrey Lutaaya and wife Irene Namatovu breaking away to form Da Nu Eagles Production.

Even with the new group, artistes like Dr Hilderman, Maureen Nantume, Carol Nantongo have all quit Golden Band.
