In an interview on Saturday, Mpuuga said the government ought to have solutions before condemning people to stay at home. He said this right after President Museveni ordered a strict 42-day lockdown to slow the rapid spread of the coronavirus.
After the announcement of lockdown, people decided to exploit the loopholes in the president’s speech. Since the president said nothing about people moving on foot, many have resorted to moving to their destinations on foot.
Therefore, not even a lockdown will completely reduce the spread of the virus. People keep on moving from place to place. Police even set up roadblocks at major entrances into Kampala to turn back anyone without a valid reason for their being in Kampala.
However, one of the solutions to the current situation came from the Kampala Capital City Authority. The body dispatched 18 ambulances to help respond faster to emergencies to the residents across the greater Kampala.
They will offer health evacuation for both suspects and patients of Covid-19. This isn’t enough though since it is not only in Kampala where people are feeling the effects of Covid-19 or the lockdown itself.
