Mubarak Munyagwa – President Museveni Will Lock The Country Again In Third Wave

Former Kawempe South MP Mubarak Munyagwa has come out to predict that President Museveni will lock the country again if the third wave of the COVID pandemic hits the country.

Uganda has so far gone through the first and second waves which have all required lockdowns that come with their socioeconomic effects. The President advised Ugandans to be very vigilant and observant of the SOPs so as to avoid falling into the third wave.

He said Uganda managed to even avoid the second wave than some countries which are even in the fourth wave. He however said it was the “false prophets” (politicians) that contributed to the outbreak of the second wave.

Many expected that by the end of the 42-day lockdown, the country would have vaccinated a large number of people. However, only slightly above 200,000 people have been fully vaccinated out of the targeted 22 million people.

Mubarak Munyagwa said that the government should’ve vaccinated at least a number of people in the busiest places in the country. For example, business centres. Because of this, the virus is likely to go high and cases might soar again.

This will ultimately lead to a third lockdown.

“We thought by the end of this lockdown, 5 million people in business centres like Kampala would be vaccinated.

This government got the COVID-19 vaccine money early enough, but they weren’t just serious. Sadly, President Museveni will, unfortunately, lock this country again during the third wave. The country was opened without vaccinating people and doing mass testing.” Munyagwa said.

The former Mp said that some of the guidelines the government proposed show that they completely lost touch with reality long ago.

Kalungu West Mp Joseph Ssewungu re-echoed Munyagwa’s sentiments saying there is a weakness in the centres of power. This is because the President gives directives like opening malls and arcades and then the RDC/RCC closes them.
