Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has delivered his fate ahead of the 2026 General elections which are a couple of years away from now. The General who also doubles as the first son has in the past few months hinted at succeeding his father, Gen. Museveni for the country’s highest office.
Despite being an active military officer, he has engaged in activities deemed partisan contrary to the Forces’ code of conduct. A movement known as the Patriotic League of Uganda was even formed under his stewardship.
Word has even been moving around that the former SFC Commander might usurp power from his father if he doesn’t get the opportunity to legitimately replace him.
Additionally, it has been rumored that there has been tension in the first family regarding this matter. Apparently, the President had to take swift action to solve this.
Now Muhoozi himself has declared whether he will run for the country’s highest office or not. Taking to his X page which is a hub for controversy in regards to his opinions, he gave the final verdict.
He said that he won’t be running for the Presidency. Instead, he has chosen to endorse his father, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Muhoozi claimed that the Almighty God wants him to first take care of his army. This has left some of his “foot soldiers” on social media dismayed. These too had become sort of a cult following towards him.
“I would like to announce that I will not be on the ballot paper in 2026. Almighty God told me to focus on His Army first. So, I fully endorse President Yoweri Museveni in the next elections.”
