Mumbere Warns Rwenzururu Subjects Against Violence

The Omusiga of Rwenzururu, Charles Wesley Mumbere, has warned his subjects to guard against engaging in acts of violence.

Mumbere, in particular, warned the youth to shun known or unknown individuals or groups of people. Apparently, they approach the youth asking them to fight with promises of fabulous rewards.

‘’I have received reports that there are some people who are targeting to recruit some banyarwenzururu (Rwenzururu subjects) into picking up pangas as a way of having me and my co-accused freed,’’ Mumbere said.

He further said such acts, on the contrary, can frustrate the current efforts towards getting him freed.

They read his warning in a recent statement from the press for him by the Rwenzururu premier, Joseph Kule Muranga.

According to Mumbere, the people behind the move are enemies of the kingdom and the people of the Rwenzori sub-region.

He further warned his subjects against conducting any Rwenzururu business without the involvement or knowledge of the Obusinga prime minister.

‘’The Omusinga is aware that the move to engage in violence is engineered by those who don’t wish him and the Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu well,’’ Muranga said.

The warning from the Omusanga came hours after the Kasese deputy RDC, Joshua Kisembo Masereka revealed some information.

He said unknown elements had started issuing written messages in some parts of Kasese Municipality, threatening residents with attacks.
