President Museveni Amused By Akon’s Investment Ideas

The president of Uganda has said that he is happy to engage with Senegalese-American musician Akon. The singer who is on a four-day visit to Uganda with his wife Rozina Negusei, on Friday visited the president and his wife. The visit happened at the president’s country home back in Rwakitura.

During the meeting, Museveni said he was happy to discuss opportunities for investment in Uganda with the music icon.

‘’Akon and his wife come to Uganda in search of business opportunities in several sectors like energy, tourism, and infrastructure development. I’m happy to engage in such a discussion that will uplift our people and Africa at large,’’ Museveni said.

President Museveni also said it is good that the singer and investor has taken the call for historical Diasporas to return to the motherland. He further assured the music star that Uganda is the best tourism destination in the country asking the singer to take up investment in the sector.

In response, Akon said he roots for a united and prosperous African continent.

The visit by the singer also follows a trip to the US by the Senior Presidential Advisor, Amb. Abbey Walusimbi, on Diaspora affairs. The trip aimed at enticing potential business investors to come to the country.

During his stay, Akon will visit a number of Uganda’s tourism sites including Bwindi Impenetrable, and Murchison Falls among others.
