“This is the day when our Muslim brothers commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s portrayal of total faith and obedience to Allah when he accepted to sacrifice his only child Ismail. All believers are called upon to emulate Prophet Ibrahim’s example of total devotion and submission to the will of Allah. May your good deeds and sacrifices be accepted and blessed by Allah.”
“I encourage you to observe the Covid safety protocols. It is by strict observance of these protocols and the Standard Operating Procedures that we shall be able to defeat this monster,” he added.
He also extended best wishes from the first lady that were conveyed through him.
“The First Lady Mama Janet joins me in wishing you blessed Eid al-Adha prayers and celebrations. Stay well, stay safe. Thank you.”
Eid al-Adha is very important in the Islamic religion. This particular day, they sacrifice animals in honor of Allah. They always fast for 10 days before the D-day as they prepare spiritually for this day.
However just like last year, these celebrations are going to be very scientific due to Covid. The president is urging people to observe all the necessary SOPs.
Meanwhile, Muslims are in high gear to celebrate this day regardless of the lockdown. Some Muslims from the diaspora also sent their support to their brothers and sisters here in Uganda.
Since it’s a day to slaughter animals, most of them just purchased cows and goats and sent them to different areas to aid in the celebration of this day.
