Museveni To Address The Nation On Thursday – Deputy Speaker Anita Among

The Deputy Speaker, Anita Among has informed parliament that President Museveni will address the nation on Thursday on issues surrounding the fight against corruption.

”I have been informed by the ministry in charge of ethics that the Head of State will address the country about corruption on Thursday (December 9, 2021). So if you want to hear from him about corruption, you should listen to him on that day,” Among told the House during Tuesday’s plenary session.

The Bukedea Woman MP described various ways in which people are corrupt including legislators. She noted that it’s corruption for parliamentarians to receive salary and not do their expected work.

”It is also corruption when we sit and watch as district officials hire out the equipment which is for public works,” she told MPs.

The Deputy Speaker further pointed out that it’s the duty of Parliament to support the fight against corruption.

Meanwhile, on this announcement, some people immediately thought it was about the new variant that is in the country. Yesterday, the Ministry of Health informed the public that Uganda has tested 7 people positive for Omicron variant.

Obviously, president Museveni may hint on this but he has a promise to keep to the nation. He said in January 2022, he will be opening the economy fully.

Meanwhile In another news by NEWSLEXPOINT.com, about a year ago, Uganda Airlines revived its national carrier and it’s been a journey to get back to the top. This is because the world is now filled with some of the best brands of airlines.

However, the airline has been dogged by corruption just as most public institutions in Uganda. After numerous complaints and public outcries, the attention of the matter caught the president.
