Museveni’s Speech At Independence Was To Impress The Presidents He Invited – Kabuleeta

Former Presidential candidate, Joseph Kabuleeta, has said the way the president was speaking during the independence celebrations, he was only impressing the presidents he had invited. Kabuleeta says Ugandans need a message of hope.

“Museveni talked like he is the president of Africa but again he wanted to impress the other presidents he had invited. Ugandans need a message of hope.”

Kabuleeta expressed his pain about the agricultural sector saying until now farmers have never gained as much as they deserve from their produce.

“60 years later, we still have similar scenarios. Farmers are selling their produce at low prices but middlemen are getting the highest profit. People who are doing the hard work are getting very little.”

The NEED party president said other East African countries protect their farmers. However here in Uganda, the president yesterday said East Africa should work together when it comes to agriculture. He gave an example of people who wanted him to stop Tanzanians from growing rice.

“Some Ugandans wanted me to stop Tanzanians from growing rice because they sell it cheaply. I could not accept such blindness. If you block Tanzanian rice, they will also block something else from Uganda. Where then do we stand as the EA market.”

However, Kabuleeta says it is only Uganda that has opened her job market and every agricultural produce while other countries are not reciprocating this. According to him, this is one sided love.
