The TV host said artistes should start doing quality music and forget about the bubblegum style because it is dragging the industry behind.
In Uganda, there are some meaningful songs that have gone viral just because of TikTok. The songs include sitya danger, Chai wenjai and many others.
According to MC Kats, those songs will work for a short period of time. After six months they will be no more and that means Uganda can’t compete with countries that make quality music.
As a person who has been in the music industry for more than 15 years, MC Kats said the old music is far better than the current one. He said people are competing to be known not to do good music.
He said someone writes funny lyrics knowing TikTok will jump on it and it will go viral. However, they don’t think of what will happen when TikTok jumps on another fake trending song.
MC Kats asked upcoming artistes to think ahead of their future and do what is better for them and the whole industry.
“Upcoming Musicians should stop producing “bubblegum” music. They should give us quality music if they want to stay long in the industry. This music they are doing driven by TikTok always fades away in weeks and you wonder why they were doing it in the first place,” he said.
