A terrible accident occurred at the Namboole flyover around 6:45 AM today. It involved a taxi, number UAX 036F and a black saloon car. Apparently, the saloon car caught fire as a result of the collision.

Police were quick on the scene to manage the incident while emergency services responded swiftly.  Motorists have been advised to avoid the area as authorities work to clear the scene and assess any potential injuries.

For now the number of casualties and any deaths is yet to be ascertained by the Police. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

Authorities are also yet to determine the cause of the Namboole flyover accident, however, onlookers claim over-speeding. It’s not clear if there are any survivors in the saloon car. The images from the scene depict the car completely engulfed in flames.

Accidents have claimed several lives of Ugandans this year. Traffic reports from the months of August and September show that hundreds of people died in road accidents across different regions of the country.

Now with the festive season approaching, the situation doesn’t seem like it will get any better. Road users and motorists are therefore advised to carefully use and respect traffic rules to avoid such calamities.
