The conflicts date back to a 2016 land sale by a real estate dealer to Mr. Mugabi, Mr. Kennedy Abubaker, Mr. Earnest Senabulya, Mr. Gerald Isingoma, and Mr. Peter Kiwanuka.
The land dealer, Mr. Abubaker Teddi, sold the land at a total cost of Shs630 million after subdividing it into 9 plots. Furthermore, he sold each plot at Shs.70 million. It is located on Block 272 in Kitiko-Mutungo, Wakiso District.
However, according to records, it should be noted that the land initially belonged to Magadalene Nabazizi Kalibala. She is said to have also allegedly sold the land to Teddi. However, one of Nabazizi’s sons reportedly sold the same piece of land to Mr. Andrew Wanyaka.
Andrew Wanyaka is the former husband of Ms. Kalembe, to whom he donated this piece of land after he purchased it.
‘’I still have my interests on the land. I have never been compensated and whoever wants to occupy the land does it illegally,’’ Ms. Kalembe says.
Ms. Nancy Kalembe last week went to the Land Division of the High Court in Kampala where she obtained an interim order. Consequently, this stopped any activity intended to take place on the contested land.
When contacted, commissioner Mugabi declined to comment saying that the matter is in court and is being handled.
