NBS Television is on its toes after its very own viewers start a campaign to boycott all its programs. This came as a result of the station intentionally not showing news from the NUP Camp. This comes after allegations of their car being vandalized by the NUP supporters as they were trailing Robert Kyagulanyi.
The incidences that happened yesterday threw more timber to the fire. NBS is known for always going live at whatever event that is going on in the country.
Surprisingly, as the police was shooting and tear gassing into the masses, NBS Television was airing the head of state campaigns live from Moroto. Their reason was they never wanted to incite violence among viewers by showing what was on ground at that moment.
Some of the workers of NBS, using their different social media platforms requested for their viewers to simply understand them as a station.
‘We know you’d have loved to watch today’s events LIVE. We know you’re disappointed, for you count on us always to be live anywhere, always and could’ve gone Live -but to what end. Incite more Ugandans to join in & worsen the already terrible situation?..’ Desire Derekford twitted.
Its really hard to impress people as a media house because what you think is right for the people, maybe not go well for them. However we have etiquettes that we stand on as we practice our profession.
Above anything else, we are accountable to our values. Not the emotions of people and how they think journalism should be done.
