This time round the new year celebrations will not be as the usual celebrations we have as we welcome the new year. This is so because the government has prohibited the display of fireworks anywhere by any company. This they say will gather people which will increase the already surging Coronavirus cases.
“Police will not give any permission for fireworks this time. Fireworks are usually accompanied by people staying up late and gathering around a particular place. This gathering and funfair increases the risk of spreading Covid-19.
All other public end of year festivities such as concerts, overnight prayers, discotheques are not allowed,” Ms Nabakooba said.
Fireworks have not been the only activity stopped. Any kind of celebration including cross over prayers have been stopped and will only air on media for those who can. No concerts and partying as well for the rampant party animals.
Are we surprised? No!, This year has been special since March after instilling lockdown and clearly most of the things have been put out for the safety of Ugandans.
The year has only a few days left to end and everyone has different things to say about it. However we can all agree that it has been a tough year for everyone in one way or the other.
People have to find a way of creating their new year celebrations within their families so that they enter 2021 in power.
