New York State Residents Trapped In Cars By Winter Storm

At least 28 people have been reported dead in Western New York State, most of them coming from Buffalo as a blizzard continues to rage through North America.

An official of the state revealed how some people have been trapped in cars for over two days. This happened during what they could only describe as “probably” the worst storm of their lifetime.

Up to over nine inches (23cm) of snow are expected to fall in parts of the State through Tuesday.

Apparently, the storm stretching from Canada to the Mexican border has by far claimed 56 lives.

US President Joe Biden approved an emergency declaration allowing federal support for New York State.

“My heart is with those who lost loved ones this holiday weekend,” he tweeted.

Mark Poloncarz, Erie County’s executive said there is hope for better days though the fight is still on. He called the blizzard a generational storm warning that the county is yet to assess the “full toll.”

According to the local medical examiner’s office, Mr. Poloncarz said many of the victims died of heart problems. These set in while they tried to shovel or blow the snow as some others were found dead in their vehicles, according to Yahoo.

Another local family with children aged 2-6 narrowly survived death after waiting 11 hours to be rescued on Christmas Day.

As time goes on, more victims are expected to be discovered when melting snowdrifts reveal trapped vehicles.

Travel across the US has been disrupted after the “bomb-cyclone” winter storm hit them. The “bomb cyclone” winter storm occurs when atmospheric pressure plummets, causing heavy snow and winds.

Forecasters say there will be an ease in the next few days but people have been advised to only travel if it is really unavoidable.
