No MP Will Be Allowed To Speak Before Making Research – Jacob Oulanyah

The speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah has said all legislators must make thorough research before they are allowed to debate on issues.

He says the 11th Parliament must be evidence-based. He will not allow legislators without facts to debate on the floor of Parliament.

Oulanyah told them he will not entertain half-baked submissions from legislators. It is on this point that he informed legislators that he will organize a special sitting.

In this setting, they will give legislators an opportunity to debate on the Uganda they want for the next five years.

Most of the MPs welcomed the speaker’s decision. Furthermore, they say evidence-based debates will improve the quality of debate in the house.

This is very true in a way because there is really no need for someone to speak without making research on issues. Research produces solutions to available problems.

Meanwhile, the Parliament was very excited to have the Speaker of Parliament back. Rt. Hon Speaker, Jacob Oulanyah has been battling an illness they never mentioned.

The National Resistance Movement camp in Parliament was very happy to have their leader finally back. Deputy Speaker, Anita Among has been chairing the sittings in the speaker’s absence and she has done a good job.
