NUP Founder, Moses Kibalama Wants His Party Back

In a twist of events, the former president and founder of NUP Moses Kibalama Nkonge has accused Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu AKA Bobi Wine of mismanaging his party, NUP.

According to a press conference held by Kibalama, he said that he had a memorandum of understanding for one year with Bobi Wine and his team.

This means that the former Kyadondo East legislator would either hand over the party to Kibalama or seek to renew the MoU if at all it’s what it exhibited.

Kibalama also adds that Bobi Wine and his team run the party like a movement and not a political party.

Another claim that seems to have angered Kibalama to make a U-turn is the fact that Bobi Wine reportedly sidelined most of the old members of the party, a thing that was not agreed upon. Kibalama himself says that he has written to the party hierarchy a number of times. However, he is yet to get a response from them.

Apparently, Kibalama formed the party under the name of National Unity Reconciliation and Development Party (NURDP). Later, they changed to National Unity Platform (NUP) after handing it over to Mr Kyagulanyi.

Kibalama made these comments during a press conference held at his home in Buwambo, Wakiso district.

“Am seeing them doing a lot of rubbish. They are not running the party according to the agreed terms. I need my party back.” Kibalama said.

Kibalama has been admitted at Bombo military hospital where he has been battling COVID-19 for the last two weeks.

He even came out to applaud the professionalism of the UPDF due to the care they accorded to him.

Kibalama added that he was willing to go back to court to challenge the initial judgement and have it reviewed.

The judgement had ruled that Hon Kyaglanyi had gone through all the right processes while accessing the administration of the party.
