This is for tarnishing the image of the parliament when he returned the shs40 million he alleged to be a bribe. He received this money as a token of appreciation for passing the supplementary budget.
Kabogo told legislators during the Tuesday parliamentary sitting that he has been doing a lot of reflection on the issue.
Therefore, he decided that he owed the house an apology and had to drop allegations that he received the money from the home of Among.
Twaha Kabogo made headlines in August after carrying Shs 40 million to the office of to leader of opposition Mathias Mpuuga. He did this by claiming that he had received the money from Among’s residence in Nakasero.
He then said his actions were in response to the directive of Robert Kyagulanyi, the president of the National Unity Party (NUP). The former presidential candidate had told MPs who had received money that they ought to return it.
Kagabo’s apology however, will not save him from appearing before the committee on Rules, Discipline and Privileges. Confirmation of this came from the chairperson of the probe Abdu Katuntu.
