They named Andrew the official party flagbearer after a meeting with President Museveni. This meeting happened in Rwakitura and a decision determined that Oulanyah’s son was the best candidate for the spot.
Some of the other members that attended the meeting included leaders from Omoro. Most of the other aspirants who had also shown interest all agreed to step down and take back their positions.
“Special meeting of OMORO leaders with the president @KagutaMuseveni just got done. All aspirants from NRM have stepped down in his favour @WodLanywen ( son to the late Jacob), those who had previously occupied RDC offices will bounce back, LC5, speaker to say their positions,” NBS journalist Benson Ongom announced.
Furthermore, the NRM decided not to hold primaries as this was decided to be a tribute to their fallen speaker.
There are also talks that the FDC might front a candidate. And when they do this, the National Unity Platform looks set to back and support FDC in the race.
The electoral commission has already set the road map. This election will take place on the 26th of May 2021.
