Parliament Awards Rebecca Kadaga For Her Good Services

Parliament has recognized their former speaker, Rebecca Kadaga, by awarding her good service award. She served as a deputy speaker and speaker for 20 years. Surprised by this gesture, Kadaga says her focus is now on her new assignment in her new office. She is the first Deputy Prime Minister and also Minister for Easter African affairs.

Some of the achievements of Kadaga that Parliament recognized include, the construction of the five-level basement car parking at parliament, the construction of the new parliamentary chambers that is still going on, the improvement of the welfare of both members of Parliament and staff and the passing of several bills under her stewardship. These among the many made her stand out for the award.

Kadaga while receiving the award, revealed that currently, her ministry is looking for land in Uganda. This land will carry the East African Central bank. Since she is now the Minister of East African affairs, this must be easy for her to get. Given the fact that she did a great job as speaker for all those years, more is even is expected from her.

Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga had even this time stood for the speakership position. To the surprise of many, she disobeyed her party and stood as an independent though she lost to Jacob Oulanya. Her new position in the cabinet was equally a shock as she was the anticipated new Vice president or Prime minister which she both missed.
