Parliament Resumes Sessions At 2PM Today After Tuesday Suspension

Parliament is today set to sit after they suspended sessions on Tuesday due to bomb blasts. The August House on Tuesday suspended business for safety after suicide bombers tried their lives.

The explosion happened around Parliament Avenue which is not far from the August House. However, no Member of Parliament sustained injuries on this day.

Due to this, Clerk to Parliament Adolf Mwesige wrote a statement to legislators telling them sessions resume today.

“This is to give notice that Parliament of Uganda will resume plenary sitting with effect from tomorrow Thursday(today), 18th November 2021, commencing at 2:00 pm. The Order Paper for the sitting will be uploaded on your iPads by close of business today to enable you to make appropriate preparations for the sitting.”

Following the attacks, authorities urged the legislators to use the precincts of Parliament. This is because security forces are working around the clock to restore order in the city centre.

Findings so far show that indeed the main target of the terrorists was Parliament because the death of MPs would make more news.

“The target were the MPs because that would make bigger news,” this was according to a source who preferred to remain incognito.
