Following this, pastors with churches in wetlands have been ordered to vacate.
“We want proprietors of churches to have economic empowerment strategies in their flow such that they stop only receiving blessings but they also receive knowledge, that will emancipate them from poverty,” Badru Mugabi the Hoima RCC said.
The Hoima RCC convened a meeting aimed at easing working relations between the pastors in the area and the government. During the meeting, an observation came that most churches in Hoima divisions were built in wetlands.
The most affected are the Bigajuka wetlands. Badru Mugabi along with his deputy William Kasigazi have therefore advised pastors with churches in wetlands to find other convenient areas.
However, some of the pastors have put the blame on the City Authority that approved their plans of building in the restricted areas.
“There are pastors that applied for good places and they were denied approval. Now where do you want us to go?” Robert Musaazi, a pastor said.
