People Power Is More Than Red Berets, We Are Bigger Than Our Symbol – Bobi Wine

Ugandan musician and Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi populary known as Bobi Wine has condemned the government’s banning of ordinary citizens use of red berets ( round caps ), the mark of his ‘’People Power’’ political party which he will be using to run for presidency in 2021.

The Ugandan government made an announcement this month that the red berets and other forms of military attires as ‘’State property’’. It issued a strong warning to everyone wearing or selling them that they will be charged according to military law, which might result into life sentence.

The 37 year old politician mentioned that the red beret ban is a fiction. It is an obvious set out to oppress a victorious threat to the tyrannical status quo.

However, People Power is definitely bigger that our symbol (red beret). It is already a prosperous political party battling for Uganda’s future and we shall proceed our struggle for real democracy, ‘part of the statement reads.

Ever since he joined politics and democratically elected as a member of parliament of Kyadondo East in 2017, Robert Kyagulanyi popularly known as Bobi Wine has shaken authorities in Uganda who spot him as a daunting threat to oust long-time president Yoweri Museveni.

Bobi Wine has collected a huge support base mainly the Ugandan youth who have been attracted by his boldness and bravery. He has also received a huge support from Ugandans and none Ugandans living abroad, and that was since he was given an opportunity to air out his political views on International media giants like CNN, Aljazeera etc which attracted millions of viewers across the globe.
