Police Arrests Driver Who Tried To Run Over Traffic Officer

The Police at CPS in Kampala have arrested the driver of a motor vehicle, registration number UAZ 515C who made a deliberate attempt to run over a traffic officer on Kampala Road. In the incident that was captured in a video circulating on social media, the traffic officer who was on duty attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to comply. He instead drove through, narrowly missing the cop endangering his life.

Patrick Onyango, the KMP Spokesperson identified the errant driver as Mukwaya Issac. The culprit also attempted to deceive the authorities by pretending to be sick when brought in for interrogation. The officer, who narrowly escaped being struck by the vehicle, is Katongole Josam.

“…However, upon examination, it was determined that he was in normal health and had intentionally inserted the cannula into his hand,” said Onyango.

Onyango also confirmed the arrest of Mukwaya who is currently being detained at CPS Kampala. He faces three charges; Violating traffic lights, Reckless driving, and Attempted murder.

“We urge the general public, particularly motorists, to adhere to the instructions provided by our traffic officers,” Onyango concluded.
