Police Arrests Over 200 In Bars Across Kampala And Wakiso Last Night

Police has arrested over 200 people after raiding a number of bars last night. The raided bars are in the townships of Busega, Lugogo, Wandegeya, Bukoto and Kira in Wakiso District.

These drinking joints were flouting Ministry of Health guidelines on coronavirus in Kampala City over the weekend.

Luke Owoyesigyire, Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson said none of the arrested is going to get police bond. They will send all of them to court.

“More than 200 suspects were arrested from Cayene Bar in Bukoto, New Best Hotel in Busega, bars around Lugogo and DV8 in Wandegeya. It should be noted that operating bars is still against the guidelines that were issued by the Ministry of Health,”

Some of these drinking joints were actually operating like there is no Covid. Most of the party animals even had the nerve to post themselves on social media having fun.

For this matter, Owoyesigirye says the police looked everywhere in those areas.

“Our officers took their time and searched every place of the affected bars to make sure none is left behind,” he said.

Bars are still under lockdown since last year in April. Museveni has not showed any sign of opening them anytime soon.

He clearly exhibits his rage for alcohol. Just recently, said he doesn’t find anything good about it aside from being bitter. Actually, most of them became restaurants because they still have to make ends meet.

As of now though, looks like the president will not address complaints against closure of drinking joints soon.
