A one ASP Owor Lameck knocked Reagan Senoga’s vehicle. However, he went ahead and shot the victim dead for unknown reasons.
“The deceased was standing beside his car, a Toyota Vista, registration number UAK 398D when the suspect who was driving a Premio registration no UBE 179F knocked the front part of deceased’s car. On asking the suspect why he knocked, the suspect told the deceased that he can even shoot him,” Brian Ssebyala an eyewitness said.
At this moment, the police officer attached to the ICT department at Kawempe Police Station drew a pistol and shot his victim. He reportedly did this while still in his car.
The eyewitness then made an alarm that alerted other people who made their way to the crime scene. They helped rush the victim to Ggwatiro hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.
According to reports, Owor who also owns a bar in that area has a track record of being violent. The deceased left behind a family of three children, including a seven months baby.
Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the incident.
“ASP Lameck Owor has been arrested and in our custody, whereas the body was taken to the KCCA mortuary for postmortem. Investigations are still ongoing,” Owoyesigyire said.
This incident has thrown more light on the immunity exploited by members of security agencies including police, the UPDF and other officials.
This same vice, however, has been shown by businessmen and members of wealthy families. And then those with connections to security organs.
A case in point, in 2016, Mathew Kanyamunyu, a businessman, shot and killed Child Rights activist Kenneth Akena who allegedly knocked and scratched his vehicle. Kanyamunyu has since been sentenced to six years imprisonment.
