Otherwise, according to him, there is no need to trust them with the recent investigations they started working on concerning the fires around Kampala. He says he has absolutely no reason to trust the police.
His remarks followed an incident where four pupils were burnt to death and three others injured. A school dormitory caught fire at Kibedi Day and Boarding primary school in Kawempe division, Kampala district that left many parents in fear.
On the same point, in Kasese, a fire also broke out at the Hima Cement factory claiming three lives according to the police and leaving at least three other factory staff injured.
No one knows the cause of these fires up until now.
Lukwago says this is so unfortunate especially because police is always saying they are carrying out investigations.
“It’s sad to see that after almost two years of having schools closed due to Covid-19, we have lost five pupils. Four at Kibedi Primary School in Kawempe and one at St. John’s Primary School in Kyotera as a result of fire gutting their dormitories,” said Lukwago in a brief statement.
Erias Lukwago says there is need to seriously look into this matter to know the cause of these fires.
Also; people need to know the reason why police has not yet produced reports from previous investigations on the fires.
It was so unfortunate what happened last week for parents who lost their children in fire yet they had just taken back their children to school. The least these parents deserve is answers that only police can provide.
