Yesterday afternoon was a stressful moment among Ugandans when the country faced power outage immediately after the President confirmed that it was remaining only 10 minutes to start addressing Nation on the COVID19 situation.

Many Ugandans complained a lot firing sounding words to UMEME for switching off electricity in the whole country yet the President was just about to start. But though many Ugandans under went power outage, this couldn’t stop most of them to login Facebook to watch his speech live. Most of them who had complained about data charges were seen causing commotion via his Facebook page.
“It appears as though the Nationwide power outage has hampered the viewing of the Presidential address on COVID19 guidelines. How are you following the Presidential address in your area?” one the Internet bloggers asked.
It’s however the first of it’s kind in a couple of decades for Uganda to experience power outage country-wide, there were several mixed reactions especially on social media, many were asking why during nation address?

Other people claimed that perhaps Museveni had feared that people might riot in the process of watching him live on TV.

UMEME later explained the cause of the power outage country-wide. The root-cause was right from the source. They managed to fix the problem in almost an hours time.
