“Last night, I slept very well up to the 10th hour of the night (saa kumi za usiku –what the Europeans call 4am). This time, the dull headache was not there, nor was the mild throbbing (enkuratima) on top of the head,” Museveni said in an update about his Covid situation on Sunday night.
He said initially on Wednesday that he felt a bit of mild muscle soreness, a sign typical of the common flu. However, that has since subsided but he still feels a bit of roughness on the throat.
Regardless though, he said the Covid-19 tests done on him to ascertain his status still came out positive thus him remaining in isolation.
“We shall wait for a few more days and check again. I remain in self-isolation at Nakasero,” he said.
He further urged the general public to get fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and the elderly to get booster jabs as the disease is still among us.
President Museveni on Wednesday announced he had tested positive for Coronavirus disease. A day after that, on Thursday, he went into self-isolation at Nakasero State Lodge.
For three years, the president has been strict on observance of the Covid-19 guidelines including face masks and Covid tests.
However, he seems to have let his guard down ever since the World Health Organization (WHO) said Covid-19 is no longer a threat.
Covid tests for all his visitors are still a must up to now. However, on several occasions the president has been spotted without a face mask. Many have said this could have been the cause of him contracting the virus and he also agrees with this.
“However, recently, I had to give up masks because they have been causing me allergic reactions in the eyes and also in the throat. Do you remember when I lost my voice twice during the elections? That is part of the allergy,” he said.
