He made these remarks during the Ordination service of Five Deacons into priesthood. Rt. Rev. Eng George Bagamuhunda the Kigezi Diocesan bishop at St. Peter’s Cathedral Church Rugarama in Kabale Municipality presided over the service.
The service took place on Sunday, 24 April 2022 and it attracted the presence of five other retired and serving priests.
These include the Bishop of the Diocese of Kigali, the Rt Rev Nathan Amooti, the emeritus Bishop of Butare Rwanda, Rt Rev Nathan Kamusiime Gasatura. Also, the Northwest Ankole Bishop Rt Rev Amos Magezi, the emeritus Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi Rt Rev Dr William Rukirande, and the Cyangugu Diocese of Rwanda Bishop the Rt Rev Francis Karemera were in attendance.
Bahati revealed that the largest percentage of the Ugandan population is of the Christian faith standing at 85%. However, despite this, Uganda has continuously faced corruption in government projects that take a lot of money.
He compared this to the Diocese of Kigezi gravity water project which used up less funds to accomplish.
He gave an example on how Bishop Bagamuhunda has managed water projects in the diocese using little money.
Further, he stressed his concern on how the government has continued to allocate millions and millions of money yet the church uses less money to implement its projects.
Minister Bahati also reminded Christians that they cannot mock God. He is therefore calling upon them to be examples in whatever they do.
