Ugandan musicians don’t get much money from online streaming platforms like other countries. They earn more from performing at different concerts around the country.
They have complained about passing the copyright law that allows them to earn money from their music even when they stop singing.
According to Ragga Dee, artists need to understand that there is life after singing. When they grow old, they will not have the same energy to perform and make a lot of money.
He also said that he doesn’t want to see artistes that will be begging for money and help when they had an opportunity to invest but couldn’t.
“As a musician, when I do a show, I don’t use the money to buy shoes. Instead, I invest it in something productive that will generate more income because I can’t sing forever. That shouldn’t be only on me, it should apply to other musicians too. Investing should be something everyone does when they have money,”
Recently Bebe Cool said that he will not be performing like he used to do, he is now into businesses that bring in more money.
