During the incident in Uasin Gishu County, they stoned Raila’s helicopter and motor vehicles.
Raila said in a statement that Governor Jackson Mandago and Soy MP Caleb Kositany are to blame for what happened.
The former Prime Minister claimed he had gathered information that indicates his political opponents rounded up youngsters to attack his plane.
“Young people attacked my plane, destroying the air shield with stones that were clearly aimed at me. On the way to the plane, they had pelted my vehicle with stones. For today’s unfortunate events, I hold Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandagor and Soy MP Caleb Kositany accountable,” he said in the statement.
Furthermore, he called the two he accused as well as leaders in the region and asked them to condemn the act. He also asked them to promise to end such attempts.
Odinga hailed the police who were quick to thwart further damage or harm people who were part of his team.
He further said that young people should show political tolerance and allow freedom of expression ahead of the August elections.
Ruto condemned the violence witnessed in North Rift. He also condemned the attack adding that every politician has a right to sell his program in all parts of the country.
