He said they need to know that the people who have been supporting them in singing are the same people they are presenting there.
In Uganda, different musicians have got an opportunity to be members of parliament. But most of them usually forget about their fans and the music industry at large.
They just say they are there to represent the people from the area that voted for them not the music industry. According to Ronnie Mark, artists need to understand that music is a career. He said that they became members of parliament just because they were musicians.
He said musicians who at the same time are politicians need to reposition themselves and all will be well.
“Music is a career, but when musicians enter politics, they often forget that. Some musicians see politics as a side hustle, but they need to reposition themselves,” he said.
“When musicians go to Parliament, they should realize they have the same audience they have been singing for—they are the ones they are representing,” he added.
It should be noted that musicians who have joined parliament have never done anything for the entertainment industry. They are always pushed by fellow musicians to do something but the term ends without doing anything.
