Rukunjiri district Chief Administrative Officer Elias Byamungu has ordered the Southern division leadership to hand over the Rukunjiri Stadium’s keys. He ordered them to give the keys to the town clerk over what he termed as mismanagement of the facility.
The directive follows a public outcry that the division leaders were stopping them from accessing the stadium with their vehicles during events.
According to Byamungu, the division leaders ashamed the public after failing to open the gates when Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja landed there. She went there to attend the BAAF function at the Immaculate Heart Girls School Nyakibale.
Another incident happened on December 12 when they blocked football fans from accessing the stadium. This happened when the Rukunjiri United FC hosted Kigezi Homeboy’s FC which according to Byamungu is null and void.
Byamungu trashed the division leadership for acting independently from the district stressing that this will let down the area development.
The CAO pointed out that he is going to deal with any leaders who don’t respect directives from Rukunjiri district leaders.
He now wants both political and administrative leaders to work hand in hand to boost young people’s talents. This will enable them to benefit from them rather than denying them access to such recreation centres.
