It is aimed at skilling the youth in a bid to curb the rapidly increasing unemployment in the country.
While speaking to reporters on Thursday, the legislator who unveiled 6 electronic sewing machines revealed that this is a fulfillment of her pledge.
She made this pledge during her campaign trail in the district and that the project will majorly target the unprivileged and vulnerable youths.
Additionally, she said this will majorly favor girls who got pregnant during the time of the schools’ closure.
Rukunjiri district Woman MP also said that they will first consider the girls who showed earlier interest and registered. She revealed that they are using a criteria that is smart and favorable to everyone to select the beneficiaries.
The legislator that looked forward to availing more machines, appealed to all the interested youth and their parents to get in touch with her office.
This will apparently help turn their dreams into a reality as quickly as possible.
The training center will officially begin operations in January 2022.
Those already benefitting from the project, Racheal Ainomugisha and Evalyne Akampurira applauded the legislator for her efforts.
They said her involvement with the youth in developmental projects will help uplift their income after learning such important skills.
Hon. Micheal Byaruhanga, the Western Division District councilor, who also doubles as the Secretary of Production attended the function.
He rallied all leaders at all levels to emulate Hon. Natukunda and fulfill their pledges as well as skilling the youth.
