Former Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) national chairperson, Rtd. Maj. Edward Rurangaranga, has died.

Maj Edward passed on in the wee hours of Tuesday morning after collapsing at his home in Kitagata Sheema district.
The veteran politician was battling Diabetes and Hypertension.
He was last year admitted at Nakasero Hospital over heart complications.
According to Okello Lucima, the UPC spokesperson, Edward died at about 12:40am.
“Comrades, the Party and the country has lost a soldier, patriot, liberator, and an elder statesman: Mzee Maj. Edward Rurangaranga,” Lucima said in a condolence message.
“May God grant him everlasting life, and carry the burdens of death for his family, the people of Sheema and entire Bushenyi, his Party and country.”
He said the struggle for which the ex chairman for UPC and his contemporaries dissipated their youths, must continue unabated.
Rurangaranga, 85, served as a minister in Milton Obote’s government.
He also served as a Local Government Minister in Milton Obote II’s government.
