Tennis Legend Serena Williams Gets An Apology From Paris Restaurant After Mistreatment

Olympic tennis champion and legendary player Serena Williams called out a famous restaurant in Paris known as Peninsula for denying her a seat to eat with her children.

She said that by the time she got to the restaurant it was empty but they couldn’t allow her to access the rooftop to sit and get some food.

The tennis ex-player lashed out on X formerly known as Twitter and posted about it sounding like she was disappointed.

It is very common for people of colour especially black people to be denied access to different places even when they are celebrities. Most of them have complained but it keeps happening.

“Yikes @peninsulaparis I’ve been denied access to the rooftop to eat in an empty restaurant of nicer places 🫠 but never with my kids. Always a first. 🙄#Olympic2024,”

The restaurant quickly responded to Serena Williams claiming that all the tables were already booked. They said they were sorry that she was disappointed. They also added that they were fully booked and other tables reserved for other guests.

“Dear Mrs. Williams,
Please accept our deepest apologies for the disappointment you encountered tonight. Unfortunately, our rooftop bar was indeed fully booked and the only unoccupied tables you saw belonged to our gourmet restaurant, L’Oiseau Blanc, which was fully reserved,” the restaurant wrote.

It should be noted that Paris is currently hosting the 2024 Olympics. This may explain why the restaurant was fully booked.

However, it is also quite common for restaurants in some countries to play racist. Some of them when called out usually deny it claiming they are fully booked. We may have to wait for other complaints to come up before any conclusions are made.
