This caused a lot of violence in the country from people opposing and calling him a dictator. Army units were divided into two. Those for him and those against him.
President Abdullahi said in an address to the nation that he will be meeting the members of parliament on Saturday. The purpose for this meeting will be to find means of having elections done as soon as possible.
Not only that but to also reverse the two year extension passed on 12th April that brought unrest in the country.
Mr. Farmajo assured the nation that he is bent on fulfilling his promise that elections will take place and peacefully.
“I wish to reaffirm, like I have done in the past, that we have always been ready to ensure election takes place in Somalia more so, in a timely and peaceful manner,”
The Somalian President called for the army to ensure peace reigns in the country regardless. They should lookout for all actions that could cause unrest before anything goes out of hand. Mr. Farmajo commended his prime minister who had earlier assured the people that he will not be clinging to power.
Just this week, the country was undergoing political unrest because of the same issue. Surprisingly, the security minister had instead put this on foreign countries saying they are interfering with their peace.
